Polyurethane Bushings for Automotive and Transportation
Typically aftermarket alternatives for replacing or upgrading suspension bushings.
Being slightly harder than rubber, and less hard than metal, the polyurethane bushings are the ideal choice if you want the best all-around balance of alignment holding, stability, and noise/vibration abatement.
Additionally, when it comes to mechanical bonding, specifically when using a through-bolt, the bushings are allowed to “float” and not fixed in the housing, like OE rubber. In this scenario, this limits the amount of torquing and wearing done to the bushing, thus allowing a smoother rotation and longer service life.
Regarding maintenance, these bushings work best when lubricated. The good news is that in most cases, if lubricated well enough upon installation, they shouldn’t need Maintenace for up to 5 years or so.
